March 2012 Guild Meeting Minutes

The president opened the March 2012 meeting at 7:17 p.m.  The president extended birthday wishes to our member who celebrates her birthday in March.  Linda Johnson introduced the guests.

The president advised there was a purple scarf left from the February 2012 meeting.

The minutes of the February 2012 meeting were approved.

The treasurer gave the treasurer’s report advising the guild’s bank balance is $3,259.33.

The Ways and Means Committee is holding a raffle for a sweater kit.  Tickets may be purchased at the March through June guild meetings.  The sweater kit will be awarded to the raffle winner at the June guild meeting.

On motion of Trink Dahl-Prince, seconded, the guild approved a donation of $50.00 to the Chesapeake Humane Society in memory of Joanne Fischer.

Kimberly Villereal updated the guild on her recent marketing activities on behalf of the guild.

Sue Von Olsen advised the program for the April guild meeting will be “round robin” demonstrations of bead knitting.

The president advised the guild needs additional assistance manning the guild’s booth at the Virginia Beach Spring Craft Festival.  The festival takes place 3/16 – 3/18/12 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. 

The president advised the guild will participate in the Gathering of the Guilds at the Frances Land House, Virginia Beach, on 4/7/12.  The guild is seeking volunteers to participate at this event. 

The president advised the guild will hold a judged knitting contest with the contest rules posted on the guild’s Ravelry site and the guild’s blog.  The winners will be announced at the June meeting. 

The president advised the guild’s World Wide Knit in Public Day will occur on 6/9/12.  The WWKIP chair is researching alternative venues for this event. 

Sue Von Olsen, owner, The Knitting Corner, advised the shop has a spring clearance sale in progress.  In addition, the shop will hold an anniversary sale on 03/31/12.  

Following the Ways and Means raffle, Marilyn Estrada, certified yoga instructor, lead the program on Yoga for Sitters and Knitters. 

The guild enjoyed the Ways and Means raffle of yarns suitable for Valentine’s Day projects. 

The guild enjoyed the show and share time.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:56 p.m.
